Hey im wanting to build me a computer but I dont make any money. I work and all, but at the end of the month I make just enough to be broke. I go to college and work (full/part-full). I know theres no way im ever going to be able to afford a PC, which sucks because im running on.
1.6Ghz
256RAM
40GB
32MB Vid Card
I know most of you think its not bad... but its old and it runs horribly. The mouse ball has dents all over it and it gets stuck in movement, the keyboard is loaded with dust/hair under they keys(which I already knocked out all the keys and blew most of it out) I cant even play my favorite game with my friends... (WoW) If anyone out there is very rich, and wouldnt mind sending a kid in need some money, any amount is something, and with enough people it might happen... Ive worked for 8 months saving all I can and im close to 500. Woot, thanks.

u can get a tower for 500 that would work, but u wouldn't get moniter keyboard mouse ect wtih that

Doubt anyone will just hand you money...

If you are a college student, you can get student discounts from computer manufacturers and the like. My sisters BF got a $1600 Gateway machine, and because he was in college, he was able to make monthly payments on it until it was payed off. It was really cheap each month otherwise with the divorce he is going through he woulndn't have been able to afford it.

Also, get some cash from selling stuff you don't need. Perhaps sell your current computer, stuff aroun the house, etc.

You might look into selling some of the gaems you own, since you can't play them you said...and when you get a better computer you can obtain them again and actually play them. No point if holding onto software you cant use.

hmm.. wow.. touching story.. but sorry im not the rich one..

well, with 500.. if there are computer shows in your area.. you might be able to buy a whole setup if you shop right and get lucky.

haha touching story? I wasnt looking to get pity, just state the situation. I just wish I was born into a rich family with 2 parents... or if I still had 1 atleast. Livin on my own since I was 17.
Shit anyway, the requirements for WoW game are insane, I played it on a
P4
512RAM
64MB card
80GB
and it was lagging like hell, and thats a new computer too, my friends second one, like his office one. (eMachines)

I think you could buy my computer (minus the RAM, go Value PC3200) for $500 easy. And that will play alot of games. Just need to upgrade the video card for HL2 or better.

Umm.. I have no stuff to sell. I live in an apartment with my cousin. Theres nothing to sell, we have furniture and beds and our clothing and kitchen appliances..

Looks like you need a better paying job then or less bills lol. At 18 a high powered computer might not be a possibility...which should be easy to tell after asking for free money online.

i don't mean to be negative...but sometimes you jsut can't do/afford things when you want them. i've been wanting to upgrade for over a year now...but i jsut can't afford it either. and when christmas comes around and i have to start paying insurance and gas and w/e else i'll be broke at the end of the month jsut like you. i'm selling my guitar amp/equipment just to have some cash dinner/dates with my GF. that takes presidence over my computer...but it'd still be nice to be able to upgrade.

if i could FIND a job that'd be nice...or else the car i'm buying will jsut sit out front cuz' i cant afford insurance/gas bills without a job. i'm moving for the 2nd time in the last few months too...so w/e i am close to here i'll be far away from when i move. hard to find a job when you're moving all the time:(

Yeah thats what you should aim for to play WoW....

Im somehow going to have to get a loan... make minimum payments til im 60... *sigh*

Here is a really good system for about $500 minus case (you can recycle), power suply (you may need a new one with more power), Mouse (you can buy one for like $20 or borrow one from your cousin maybe), and keyboard (again you can recycle), and moniter (if you can't live with your old one, not sure what to do)

Mobo: Foxconn NF4K8MC-EKRS Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4-4X Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - $79.00

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3000BPBOX - $146

RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS1GBKIT400 - $89.75

HDD: HITACHI Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 -0A30356 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $54.75 (you can reuse your old one if its not too slow and you dont mind long load times)

Video Card: ABIT RX700pro-128PCIE Radeon X700PRO 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - $119.99

Total: $489.49 plus shipping and handling.

I went a little overboard with the x700 pro, if you downgrade to a x600 series, you can probably squeez in the stuff mentioned above. Except the monitor which I dont know what to do about. Either way it will still be good a mid-end system worthy of gaming. :)

Thats your problem, my house and my PC was broken into(yeah they broke into my PC and took random parts, beucase they were IDOITS and didn;t take the whole dam thing) and you dont ee me asking for pity, you can see me working my *** off.

The thing is I want to get me a system I wont have to worry about for like 5 years hopefully, the specs that I want might make that possible... WoW is a very very demanding game. My specs probably allow me to play that game "normally". Anything less its real choppy like and slow - in low populated areas.
