I have this old gateway destop computer with 3.4gz Pentium 4 with 2gb ddr ram in it. It is very slow and take long to load internet pages, it access the hard drive too often, I guess it ran out of memory.
I would like to upgrade it with a main board with build in GPU, I5-2500 with 4 gb Ram. What is the cheapiest combo deal I can get?
Or any qua-core processor with build in GPU, main board with 4 gb ram. I don't do game so I don't need good GPU only for play hd videos.

Thank you.

it would be a lot cheaper to get a amd quad core, and also if you get a new motherboard you will either have to contact microsoft about your os or get a new windows disk cuz the one on your hardrive is liscenced to the current motherboard, but if you went with amd you can get all that for under 200, but with intell you really only need an i3-2100 which would put you around 230, but the i5-2500 alone is 200+100 for the ram and motherboard. and if ms doesn't help you then a new os disk is 100 for win7

for hd video an hd2 or 3000 in the i cpus is more than enough and with amd a hd4250 igpu is plenty too, the only thing that takes more is gaming and 3d rendering.

Any AMD main board + Quad-Core CPU + 4GB Ram with build in GPU =$250 or less? Don't worry about the windows 7, I have the retail version of it.
What is the best deal I can get with I5-2500K system? main-board+cpu+4GB Ram?
Thanks

Intel: (and also the k is for overclocking (making it go faster than the 3.3ghz stock speed) so unless you plan to do that then the extra like 20 is wasted)

since the combo makes the ram 15 off and normally 4gb's is about 25-30, might as well spend the extra 5-10 and double it. and remeber like i said above you really shouldn't meed anything over an i3 if you've been able to use a p4 3.2ghz for this long, the i3 will kill that thing at everything and will cost a good amount less too.

AMD:

for 15 less after the promo you could get an athlon x4 but they don't have an l3 cache which helps with many rograms and also they can't overclock as far cuz their multiplier is locked.

The Intel main board don't have the video chip, but it will use the i5 video, right? how it compare to the amd board video chip?
Thanks

yes it uses the i5's, and i think the i5's hd3000 is faster than the mad board's one. and again the i3 should be more than powerfull enough for you if you don't want to spend that much.

Well the I3 is 2 core processor, I have too many dual core laptop, I would like to have a quad-core desktop plus it is not that much less on the i3, so I will go for the I5-2500k.
Would it be cheaper little later as I am not sure when I will be able to travel to collect this.
Thank you.

well if you're in the us you can order these from newegg right now and recieve them in 3 business days or less if you pay for the other shipping methods. also if there is a microcenter anywhere near you i'd recomend going to them to get the cpu as they almost always have it for a good bit less than newegg for some reason. and also the i3 is 2 cores acting as 4 making each core perform at approx 1.33x a normal core, while the i5 is 4 as 4 and the i7 is 4 as 8. and the i3 is much faster than any other dual core out, it smashes them all.
