Is any of you going to buy it?

It sells for 18 euros in France, I personally think this is a rip off for an HD upgrade of the original game. It's one of my favorite games though! I still have the original CD :)

I plan to get it soon actually, loved AOE II.

And it's not a ripoff imo because you get to play with hundreds of people on Steam, because it's all integrated. Plus I'm sure a lot of the bugs it had with modern versions of Windows have been fixed as well.

I snagged a copy of AoK and AoE with each of their expansions for 10 bucks at Walmart a few years back. HD seems a bit of a stretch. I can understand revitalizing the multiplayer but the HD upgrades are hardly noticeable. The game is awesome and one of my favorites ever but it seems like their milking a 10 year old game.

AoK also runs fine for me on Windows 7. The only issues I encountered was a conflict with the aero thing, which I fixed by creating a small batch file.

Yeah that aero thing was the problem I had too, had to kill explorer every time I wanted to run the darn thing until I found a registry patch that fixed it.

Yeah. The batch file I created simply killed explorer.exe, started AoK, then started explorer again. Where did you find that fix? I haven't reinstalled the game since I reinstalled Windows and it would be nice to have a real fix rather than a work around.

I wouldn't buy it,Its a great game but not worth what they're asking just for some few graphics enhancements, which if you look at a comparison video between stock & HD version,It doesn't look all that much better.

The only thing that does look better,is the water effects...and maybe they improved the multiplayer,of course more people will be online now.

Still dont think you can beat AOE1,i could never get it to run in Widescreen though.

AOE1 has tonnes of nostalgia value, i played it loads with a mate when i was like 7 :P

Yeah AoE was my first real video game that I played at a super young age. My dad had a copy of it for some reason (he was never a gamer) and let me play it.

Can't remember where I found it, but it's a small exe file my AV always freaks out about. I could send it to you if you really want it.

I first played AOE when I had a Windows 98 computer, the 98 CD had a trial version on it I played the crap out of. Then I said "Arrrrg!" and got AOE Gold and AOE II. Played AOE II more because I found a bunch of awesome player-made campaigns and scenarios.
