I downloaded aol IM or AIM as some people call it, anyway I decided I did not like it so I uninstalled it and then had to spend the next hour cleaning all the leftover crap that the uninstall program did not remove...No aol program will never see my computer again!
 
Was that Triton? I hate triton. I just use the previous version with no extra crap on it.
 
Use AIM 4.8, its the version from before they started spywaare and extra crap ;) and AIM should not be how people say it, thats the American Indain Movment! lmao.
 
Get Trillian

It can log you on AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and something else...all at the same time. You jut login using your existing accounts. I love it. No spyware, no extra programs they offer to install, no problems uninstalling, and it's completely free.

The script bug viruses that are prone to AIM and most other AIM specific malware will not work on Trillian, as they are AIM specific, smae goes for other programs. It's not bulletproof of course, but i love it still.

Actually, AIM 5.5 was the first version of AIM to install spyware and adware on your computer mandatorily. After getting enough complaints from users, AIM 5.9 now has an option on whether you want the spyware to be installed or not.
 
there is also a stripped down version of AIM that doesn't come with anything except the chat client. and yes the newest one triton is a pain. it installs and leaves so many useless junk.

most people have AIM, so its not so bad having it. its good to just get a previous older version. triliian is great, it also has its downfalls(the last time i tried) like file transfers isn't working when chatting with someone who has AIM.

Just to correct you, thats a double negative, so technically you just said that all of AOL's products will see your computer right now
