Apollo GeForce mx4000

I bought a GeForce mx4000l for my daughter's computer (she's 4 years old) and while I was looking at it I notice that the memory modules on the card were made by Elixir. I looked up the model # on them( N2DS25616BT-5T) and found this .According to it the modules are 256mb of DDR each and there are 4 of them on the card. But the card only have 128mb of ram

Now does this mean that the card has more ram than what it claims to have or is this normal? Also the one I bought and the one on newegg are the same brand and model # and look the same, except for the memory modules that are different brands the one on the pic on newegg are different. All I can make on that pic is DTM on them.

This is the one I have
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=MX4000DDR-128MTV&cat=VCD
And this is the one from newegg
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=14-140-029&DEPA=1

Also on the one on geeks.com it says that the packaging might be different and that some might have a fan and others don't.

What is going on here? Are they doing the same with their ATI cards or is it just with the Nvidia? On their website they only have the ATI cards, and the Nvidia are are not even listed anymore. Can it be that since they are making ATI based cards that they no longer care what people think about their Nvidia cards and they are just putting them together with what ever they have left on stock.

the modules you are lookign at on elixir site are for ACTUAL DDR memory...not gfx card chips. i dont see how that works...

also the 2 links don't work...

Your capitalization (and lack thereof leads to the misinterpreation .. heehee details are immportant). The modules are 256Mb .... 256Mb x 4 = 1024Mb = 128MB :)

My bad.
I see now.
Mb= Megabit
MB= Megabyte

Now how about the different manufacturer dimms?
Is this common, to change dimms and boxes from card to card?

depending on the date the vid card was manufactured/built the DIMM #'s change, and sometimes they even switch brands. i know my RAM uses Winbond or Mosel Vitelic chips...depending on what week you get.

That doesn't make sense.
Note the capitalization ;)

The box advertises the speed and type of memory -- not the make :)

Yes, and 4bits to a nibble
And what happens if i decide to have just a snippit? ;)
