well, you might really want to get a windows PC and emulate the Mac. Also, you can use .doc formats on any OS (Linux, Windows, Mac) but with Linux, you will not need to pay $200ish for Microsoft Office. You would just need the free OpenOffic.Org, but that is (I think) also avialible on Windows. Macs are really just good for graphics, so there not my favorite OS.
BTW, if you have a JumpDrive Secure, they don't work on Macs very well. They seem to be factory formatted with a DOS extended + Logical partiton, so Macs don't work with it very well.
Personally, I hate Macs, as they are disfunctional, (eg. it freezes, you can't press the power button 4 five secs to turn it off; you have to unplug it) and they freeze more that any OS that I know of. Get Windows. Also, Windows can be cheaper than Macs. They are around $200 if you get a cheap one from Dell.
