Apple goes to Intel CPU's

I say its a good move, its time to totally remove PowerPC. I have never liked them in the first place...ive found macs through the ages to very unstable.
 
Yeah, I never really liked them, used them a couple of times. However, those G5's are REALLY beautiful...

ya, in my school i takes media arts and we have 26 G5's. They are very nice and silent, and look stylish too.
 
Actually, Macs have been using PC components for quite some time now. It was pretty much given that they'll switch over to PC processors. I think they've been doing this for a few years already, it's just in the news now because it'll be manufactured like this. There are many other tricks to get Mac OS on your existing systems. We've done it, no problem. What will also benefit with this switch will the Windows emulation to run more software. The world is over 96% PC based anyways, might as well...
 
Mac's been going down hill for a while. I hear theyll still be more propriatary(only using Mac OS and such...) so I find it a rather dumb move. For the longest time, their advertisment was how much faster their series of "G" processors were, but now they're going to intel?? And does anyone know if this intel processor IS the standard pentium in desktop machines or something else? Either way, I find it completely stupid and pointless to waste more money on such a limited PC, as that's all it will be anymore...
 
I know, they should have gone to someone better like AMD or stick with PowerPC, Im sure there will be many complaints for Mac die-hards

WTF, who the hell's saying that AMD's "better", dont start this battle again, intel and AMD excel in different areas, im pretty sure Mac has good ground for choosing intel over AMD and initiating the overhaul from PowerPC.
 
Great move, especially for what apples are usually used for...
Intel is great for multi tasking, and even though i prefer AMD, its only cuz its better for gaming, and intel would be great for macs...
