Applications randomly close, help!!

It generally happens when i'm playing a game, mainly age of empires 3, but after playing for about 30 minutes it will close and say there is an error and so i lose all the progress i've made since saving. I tried about a week ago to reinstall xp professional but that didn't solve the problem so now i have no clue what do to because i don't even know where to start to solve this. Any help you guys can offer would be amazing.
 
i don't think so, cpu temp is usually like 45c. and case is only a couple degrees higher. video card is nothing special, radion 9600 but i would think it would be able to handle the games i play which usually aren't the most graphic intense..
 
it sounds like your graphic card is overheating but also see if there is any official patches out for the game and new graphic card drivers,
do a scan for viruses and spyware
 
and now i'm kicking myself for not buying a case that had more spaces for cooling... i guess i'll just buy a cheap fan to stick on the side of the case or something for now until i get money for something better.. thanks for the help guys
