Applying Artic Silver Ceramique Thermal Compound to my laptop

I was wondering what is the place for this compound? I was going to put it on the cpu and the video card. I have a Z96Js w/ T2400 Duo Processor and X1600 ATI Video Card.

Do I apply this to the CPU side or on the heat sink side?

A lot of people that have alienware's put as/5 on their cpu to make it run cooler. Here is a guide for an alienware m9750, it may be able to help you.
