applying password to folder

Just googled this and can't seem to find a free software that will allow me to put a password on folders already made. Can someone please help? Also if in the unlikely hood I forget my password, how would I get back in to the folder?

Any 'Password Protect' program worth its salt would be nigh on impossible to crack by the ordinary person if you forgot your password, otherwise, what's the point of it.

Just don't rely on your memory and write it down somewhere or choose passwords that have meaning.
