applying thermal paste to CPU

My laptop runs at 50C and the core even gets up into the 60C range when running a game on low graphics. I would like to keep temperatures below 60C. If I would apply thermal paste to my laptop's CPU, would it bring down the temperatures? I was thinking about trying it out. Was going to use the Arctic Silver 5.

apply too much thermal paste will actually be detrimental. Generally laptops run hotter than desktops because the components are packed so closely together.

No doubt your CPU will have thermal paste on it already, it has to.

Maybe getting some better paste would help to get the temps down a bit, but don't expect anything great.

I'm looking for big increases. Just any minor increase would be good. As everyone knows, heat wears down components. Looking to just prolong my laptop's life. I was looking into putting some ArticSilver5.

Yeah, ArcticSilver is pretty good.

I don't really think there is a way too dramatically drop the temperatures but I'm sure it will help to bring them down a little.
