Archiving

i have a 6gb file that has video clips in. i archived it and it now says that its 2gb. thats good as it means more free disc space. but i dont understand. will my clips still have the same quality? it appears that they do.

is archiving a good idea? any bad points? thanks!!!
 
if you have a file and you right click>poperties>advanced then check the compress contents to save disk space, the once you have applied that it starts to archive.
