is Arctic Silver 5 the best thermal compound?

If not which one?

I will be using it on couple desktop cpu and one laptop cpu (and two other thing in the laptop) near the cpu. not sure what they are.

How much should i get?

EDIT: how should i go about removing the thermal compound that is already on the cpu? just wipe it with a cloth?

after it is removed, how much should i apply the new thermal compound to the cpu?
 
AS5 is probably considered ones of the best thermal compounds, especially for the price. They have a few other ones that may be a tad better, but your only talking 1-3C cooler.

And to remove the thermal compound from the heatsink, I would use a cloth and maybe a few Q-Tips.

And you only need one tube. I bought the small tube for $5.99 and it's been enough to use on at least 10 processors multiple times, and I still have some left.
 
Thank 0MEGA. It shocks though, because the shipping is more then half of what AS5 cost.
 
Newegg charges a lot of shipping for their smaller items, like $5 shipping on $0.99 thumb screws, lol. But if you buy it in conjunction with other items then the shipping is reduced a lot on the AS5.
 
Ya. but i don't have any other items i want to order at the time so i will have to just order it.
