Are case PSUs good quality?

I am going to buy a case soon but am not sure whether to buy a case without a PSU or the same case with a PSU. The case is the Sunbeam Transformer and comes with a 450w PSU for 90$ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811166015) or without one for 82$ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811166005). If I get it without the PSU I will probably get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817148027 a 500w PSU. I am on a budget, so can someone tell me if it would be worth spending the extra $ for a case with the PSU or even more money for a seperate PSU?

The PSUs that come with the case are usually not very good. You'd be better off buying the case without the PSU and buying a good quality PSU.

generally case powersupplies are crap but sometimes they can be good powersupplies. but if you have enough money buy a case without a powersupply and buy the powersupply that you listed separteldy.

i wanna add on to his question by asking...how a psu can even make a difference whether or not its good or bad...what is affected by quallity:D

Well, the company it's made by is a big factor in how good a PSU is. You don't want a crappy company making PSUs for computers do you?

You can go read the PSU 101 topic if you want to know more about PSUs.

Agreed.

The one that comes with the case is usually there to take up space, lol. Im not even sure if mine was good because I needed a 24 pin psu connecter and my case came with a 20 pin one.

Most stock PSU's have low amps, they may look good because they market it as a 600Watt PSU, when in reality it only has about 19A @ 12V. They are also made with cheap parts that can easily break.

What would happen if I did get the case PSU? Will it break another component, or just not work after a while of use?

It could just stop working at any time or it could explode. Well, I don't think it will explode but it could start smoking and potentially screw up some stuff inside your computer. I've only had 2 good experiences with stock PSUs and that was with Raidmax and Ultra.

Generally speaking, inadequate power causes stability issues.

If it ends up causing a power surge or too heavy a fluctuance then i is more than likely able to fry your motherboard, RAM, and possibly any add-in cards you have. Its really not worth having the PSU that comes in the case, spend a bit extra and get a good one.

I agree. You might find a case that features what appears to be a good power supply but I still would not take their word for it unless it was a brand name I trust. :)
