Are DVI and DVI-D the same/compatible?

If I were to buy a monitor with a DVI-D port and a GPU with a DVI port, are these compatible? Do I just use a DVI cable?

Yep.

DVI-I stands for DVI integrated, which means you can use it with either a digital cable or analog cable (with adapter). The DVI-D on your monitor stands for DVI digital, which simply means you can't use an analog adapter on the monitor's end.

Thanks. Now to choose a monitor! Tomorrow I'm going look at Best Buy and Circuit City. They each have two different Samsung models that are apparently better than the 226BW and made by Samsung. But who knows anymore! The only problem with going with another brand is I'd have to find a store that actually has it. :(

I could get the Acer, but I hear that it's more of an entry model. I worry about how games might look. I also worry that I worry too much.
