Are my parts compatible?

Motherboard:
Biostar N68S Ver. 6.x
Website: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=499#specification

Graphics card:
EN8600GTS SILENT/HTDP/256M
Website: https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/EN8600GTS_SILENTHTDP256M/specifications/

From what I can see, although I'm not the best at computers, these parts should be compatible but when I put them together, my entire computer doesn't start. If I take the card out it does start. But this card worked in other computers so I don't know what the problem is.

It should work. What power supply are you using? Can you try another graphics card in that motherboard?

Do you select PCI-E/Dedicated graphics in BIOS before installing the card (obviously turning the computer off after saving the settings :) ) ??

Antec earthwatts EA500 500W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.2 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply
And i have no other graphics cards sadly

I'm not sure how to do that? Could you walk me through it?

In Advanced Options are there any options relating to display or graphics?

Your PSU should be fine for the card btw.
I just found something that says Init Display first with the options
PCIEx which is enabled
Onboard
PCI Slot

OK it's not anything to do with your problem. :)

Have you tried resetting the BIOS back to the default options?

Damn can't believe I forgot to ask about that.

Some 8600s have one PCI Express 6 pin connector you need to plug in.
I've plugged it in, I'm just considering buying a new card or finding a scrap PC and taking the card out of that. I only really want to play low end games but my motherboards on board graphics are so bad it can't even run the original Mount and Blade game

Yeah I would test this card out in another PC before you buy something else, just to see if it's your board or card that's the issue. I think it's the card but try to check if you can. :)
