Are there any differences?

Hey guys, just being a little skeptical here,

Does it make any difference if I buy a HiS 5870 or a Sapphire 5870?

Will the clock speeds, processors, ram etc be exactly the same on both of them? What is the difference anyway, other than different manufacturers.

Thanks for the help :)

Quickly pleae if you can, would it be better to go for a GTX 295? The shop doesn't currently have a 5870 and importing one could take a while.

I heard the 295 does better at high resolutions, and I'll be playing at 1920x1080.

Which do you guys think I should go for, do games even support a dual GPU card?

There are many things that will determine this answer really. You can't just pick one without looking at the big picture. The GTX 295 is a powerful card that requires a high end power supply. The 5870 requires less power and is also a very nice card and performs just under the GTX 295 in most applications. A few things the 5870 actually performs better.

1. What power supply do you have?
2. What motherboard do you have?
3. Are you interested in Dx 11?

The power supply is going to be a corsair HX750, I think I read somewhere that atleast a 625W is needed for the 295?

Motherboard going to be a Asus P6T.

I'm busy putting together a very expensive (for me) build, and I want to make it last as long as possible, thats why I'm looking into DX11.

From reviews, videos and talk the 5870 is right up there with the 295, now that is very impressive since its only a single GPU card. Thing is though, there is not a single 5870 in South Africa available. The shop offered me an alternative, the 295. Think I should wait it out?

I see you have a 5870 coming soon, why that one over a dual GPU 295?

Price isn't a issue here, cost the same to import and stuff.

WEll the fact its 200 cheaper less power and less heat. and the fact its faster than the 295.

I been using my friends i7 with the 5870 and he swallows and spits out crysis as hes passing 100fps with his rig with that card. And for a single card to do that for 400 compared to a year old card thats 600 has me sold any day of the week.

Edit" Not to mention the 5870 will only improve with better drivers.

Guess I'll wait it out for stock to arrive then,
I'm also getting an i7 build and I'm glad to hear it destroys games. Thanks for the help, helped me make up my mind :)
