Hello. I need some help. I really need to upgrade my computer as it is dying. I found a listing for this computer and believe it is a good purchase. I just wanted to make sure before I go to his house and buy it. Thank you so much.

Here it is ---- $350

Processor: Intel dual core E6600 2.4Ghz , 4Mb cache
Ram:2GB (expandable to 8GB)
Harddrive: Sata 250GB
Dvd drive
Usb , audio front panel
Transparent Game ATX case http://www.sunbeamtech.com/index-2.html
Operating system: Windows XP professional service package 2
Softwares included: Microsoft office, windows defender Spyware , Symantec anti-virus, Cyberlink PowerDvd player.

This computer is ready to be used , you just need mouse , keyboard, monitor

Good specs but do you have a link to it and a price?

the price is $350.00

I talked to the guy over the phone and want to inspect it when i go to his house. I have built a bunch of computers at a job I had a couple of years ago but i haven't kept up on what are good processors and their price.

Yup reinstalling is what you should do anyway. It might have an infection that will cause major headaches later. Just make sure you get all the right drivers before reinstalling.

yes definetly for the network drivers. plus i have an account to an awsome driver website. you probably already know about it, but it is driveragent.com it has helped me a lot of times.

hmmm. good question. i didn't think to ask him. i'm assuming it doesn't come with one. probably just the hookup on the motherboard since he said its ready for use. i can always purchase one later.
thanks for bringing that up. i will ask him before i pick it up tomorrow.

Maybe I don't know anything, but I would say it depends what you want to do with it.

The way I see it:
E6600 ~ 150
250gb HDD ~ 60
2gb RAM ~ 40
DVD drive ~ 20
Case ~ 50 ? if you want to keep it
XP ~ 100 ?

If you want to use it as it is, then its a good deal, but if you plan on adding a GPU and that u need to change the mobo and PSU for that. If you don't like the case... You need to know brands on top of what is in there. If the copy of Windows isn't legit.

That's why I still think there are more things to check other than does it work. Parts of these have to do with what you want to do with it.

No problem. Yeah. I'd ask, also, if it doesn't come with out, make sure the motherboard has onboard, or you'd be stuck with no picture :P

Where can you get parts for these kind of prices? If this is true. I might as well just build my own machine. I was looking for something fast but i'm thinking its going to bite me in the butt later.

Newegg.com

Here is an example, but I am not going with the cheapest parts, rather with some at least good parts.
E6550 159.99
WD 250gb HDD 57.99
Mushkin 2x 1gb RAM 38.99
LG DVD burner 24.99
NSK4480B 64.99
Gigabyte GA-P31 S3G 67.99
Asus H3450 34.99
XP Home 89.99

With this, you get to 539.92

Which makes u feel that the system is better, but where u really win is if u want to upgrade, u can do it right now and save cuz u know what u really want.

Say I change the case and get a better PSU to change the GPU and get a better one

OCZ 500W 59.99 after MIR = 34.99
Cooler Master Centurion 44.99
Sapphire HD3850 124.99 after MIR = 104.99

With this, it gets to 624.91 after MIR

So as I said, it depends on what you want to do with it. And then again if you were willing to OC, you could go cheaper to get the same performance or better.

awesome. thank you for your help. what you wrote out looks like a pretty darn good computer. with the option to upgrade is a bonus.

It all comes down to what you need. I would say you should start another thread and tell everyone what you want to do with your computer, what your needs are, what your budget is... What you consider buying and get their advices. What I did was just a suggestion, but if we know more, we can help you better and then make you happier!
