Sorry if you get a lot of posts like this.
But I'm buying a pc tomorrow and was wondering if these specs will be good enough to play any game on high settings.
Including titled later this year etc.

Windows Vista

XFX GeForce® 8800 GTX 768MB (Direct X10)

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Processor 4600+
Dual-core 64-bit processor with AMD64 Technology
2.4GHz, 2000MHz FSB, 2 x 512KB L2 cache)

2048MB dual-channel DDR2 (2 x 1024MB), 533Mhz (PC4200)

320GB SATA II (7200rpm, 8MB cache)

16x multiformat dual-layer DVD±RW drive

?

I heard AMD are better for gaming but run hotter?
I'm not a big PC person.

But it seems more gaming computers support AMD.
Such as alienware.
Overpriced but great.

So why not AMD?
*edit/update*

And everything I said on that pc is stock.
I'm just buying the Graphics card sperate.

So I'd have to spend 150 more for the intel on the system I'm looking at.

Will the AMD be fine?
I don't really want to spend another 150.

Are you sure the AMD will be fine for games for a long time?
because with the Awesome Graphics card etc.
I dont want to have a slow cpu.

And is the Ram all a good speed etc?

yea your rams good....and yea im sure it will be good for 2 years maybe more even...but yea the amd is faster then the intels without overclock...and yea from what iv read the are pretty good for games....and if its a package yea you want have to spend the money for the intel

I think you are mistaken, I am farley certain that core2duo is faster and better for games then AMD (also better at multitasking), some one will be a long shortly to back this up. Also do not count on anything being the best for 2 years, computer technology advances to fast. In 6 months there will be something else new and better.

EDIT: 2048MB dual-channel DDR2 (2 x 1024MB), 533Mhz (PC4200)

533 Mhz ram i think is also on the slow end for gaming you want 675 or better... but let one of the more knowledgeable members back this up..

Yea, the Core2Duo is alot better for games, multitasking, and almost everything else. As for the RAM, Personally i would get 1gb of 800Mhz, and then get another stick when you could afford it. The 800Mhz will run alot better than the 533Mhz. And personally, i would go for a HDD with 16MB cache.

Well

Thats all coming stock.
So I dont have the custom option.

I dont care if I have the best pc in 2 years.

Will that set-up play games until next summer not this summer.
Then I'm getting a new system for college.

I just need this for like a year.
Will it be good?
It's only 900.

So I mean?

yea i know the core duos are better but he has an AMD mobo and processor and it would be alot to change those so for that price i thought he should just leave it
