I'm building my first Gaming PC and would like to know if these parts are compatible:

-Processor: AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition 2.8GHz Dual Core - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103678

-Video Card: : Radeon HD 4870 1GB (PCI) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150395

and,
Motherboard: Which one should I get and which one, or both, are compatible with the parts above?

Option 1: ECS BLACK SERIES GF8200A (V1.0) AM2+/AM3 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135085

Option 2: MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130223

I'm thinking about going with the ECS Black Series because it looks like it supports the Processor but I'm not sure. Please give any suggestions!

Thanks So Much,
dwmcc.

I would go with the MSI board if i was building this. The CPU should work with it, the only thing you may need to do for it to post is to do a BIOS Flash for it to get supported by the board. However that being said. The processor you choose WILL NOT work with the MSI Board since you cannot put a AM2+ processor into a AM3 Mobo. The ECS will work with the processor you choose though. If you want to upgrade it in the future, go with the MSI and drop in an AMD Phenom II x2 550 or AMD Phenom II x3 710 with ddr3 memory.

AMD Phenom II x3 710

AMD Phenom II x2 550 (My choice)

Just a question-Why would you go with the MSI?

The 7850 will not fit the MSI board.

How much are you wanting to spend on the Board-Processor-Memory and Video Card?
