Are used console games playable online?

Hi guys, simple question.

Say I bought an Xbox 360, a used one, from ebay and wanted to play on LIVE using my gamertag, but the previous owner of the game has already been playing this game online using his gamertag, would I still be able to play online using LIVE?

Also is this the same with PS3 on PSN?

I have an Xbox so I can vouch for that. I can only assume the others work the same... For the 360, you have an Xbox Live account. The account can be accessed on any Xbox and you can have multiple accounts on one Xbox. If you get a used on, you will simply need to setup your own account and you'll be good to go.

The only exception to this is if the console was modded in some form. In this case (again, at least with the Xbox) it may have been banned from Live.

I'm thinking about getting an Xbox 360 New/Used.

To make my original question easier, what I meant was if I bought an Xbox 360 GAME on is it still playable online :)

When a player is banned from Xbox Live, the console is banned, not the game.

I'm 98% sure that any games you buy used will work fine online (as long as theyre are legit retail versions, not scratched, etc.). I've heard its sketchy to buy used consoles though. The consensus seems to be that most of the used consoles on ebay are banned so its really a gamble.
 
None of the data from the previous user saves to the game it self. The only thing that might not work is if you get a used game and it has scratches. Then say you are playing forza and the game is scratched then a certain tack might not work.

I've made a Live account and have a gamertag (TDnTDE) Can I buy a live subscription online before I get my console?

You should be able to go ahead a purchase a subscription at xbox.com. Then once you get you're 360 recover you're gamertag on it and you should be good to go.

I'm not sure about that site never heard of it.

Once you get another subscription then you can either redeem the code on xbox.com or from you're 360. Remember don't do anything to you're current subscription is over. When I first got my 360 a bought a 12month subscription then I had like a couple one month subscription cards. So I thoughy it would add each month on to my current 12 months and I was wrong. Each one resets the previous so I ended up only having a month and I had to buy another 12month subscription.

I just read somewhere that's not meant to happen?

Is that why everyone always buys their cards when there current one is just about to run out?

Yea I have done it twice(apperently I didn't learn anything from the first time:o). My dad did the same thing, and I have had plenty of friends do it also. I don't know why MS would do such a thing then again it is MS.

Well sense it doesn't tell you the exact day it runs out only the month and year. I usually get my new card at the beginning of the month it is supposed to expire to make sure.
