Are X2 cpu`s any good for gaming ?

My x2 3800 runs BF2 perfect. I also have a 7800gt vid card and 2 gigs of ram.

I notice no lag or slowdowns anywhere in the game.

Even right know you can see a big differnce in dual core.. Takes the 3700+ amd CPu and hte x2 3800+ AMD CPU theres a big differnce, One of the bigest is the althon 64 is mostly for gmaign and it can run 1 app. good but for multi tasking it is no use at all. but with the dual cores u can multi task and game on the single machine which without a doubt is is going to be needed for the furture and if intel don't get there stuff up and going they well not be on the top of the list AMD well take it over.

It's a constant switching of the best CPU on the market. For awhile it was a Pentium, then an X2, then a new Pentium, now the Fx-60. Neither company will eventually "rule" the market as both are constantly developing new technologies.

well see intel is the top of the top overall right know cause of its deals with dell and there acually like giveing there processors away. they have 10 factors which make htere proccessors which in 2007 they say it is going to take 7billion to make a factor for that. amd on the other hand has 3 factorys and they really don't have any of the major premade computer companys dealing with them sure they are starting to get into hps/compaqs and do on and dell has to start useing them due to there lawsuit but the intel don't have anyhting that can stand up to a dual core amd now i am hoping that intel does come out with a better line of CPUs. But it would even take a few years for amd to but a dent in what intel is doign rihgt know but however Amd builds much better Cpus and there dual cores really pass intel by a mile.

in my opinion AMD has ruled the market for quite some time... fx-55 has outdone P4's fastest processor the P4 at 3.8ghz... in fact it performed alot better than it.
not to mention their fx-57 is even faster, and then theres the 4800+ which is better than any pentium 4 in all benchmarks, and better than the best pentium d in most benchmarks... then FX-60 which is EVEN BETTER!

the only real thing intel has going for it is the nice cool 65nm... but AMD is still gaining frequency through their 90nm SOI processors. basically, AMD's athlon 64 structure is simply superior to the pentium 4 structure.
nothing against intel, i just don't think their processors have made it to AMD standards in quite some time.
YONAH is coming though! watch out for pentium 3 architecture!!! it will dominate! lol...
