allright. I put together my build...i thought everything was gona go smoothly. But, when i got the monitor ...hooked it up..and started it...the monitor wont pick up on anything..im booting off the XP CD.the fans and leds are on...im gona check the GFX card to see if thats the problem...

a few questions though....i start with the xp cd and then install the motherbaord drivers..right?...also...if im using a serial ATA with my raptor..do i have to worry about the master and slave still?..all i have as of now is the HD and the DVD drive.

make sure you have power plugged into the back of the videocard, and make sure that the molex connector isnt plugged in

Okay...i took tehe power cable out ffrom the HDD and got picutre...the monitor is responding...now i have taken the power from the IDE....yeah...no change...im still not getting any writing..

Ok..so now i know the GFX is working...i had the HDD working off different power sources...two seperate cables...so..i pout power back to IDE....but..ims till not getting bios...wow..now theres a problem...the monitor wwill only turn on if the power isnt going to the IDE drive.

That can happen if your IDE connection is upside down. It can also if the drive is incorrectly jumpered (but that's not an issue if you only have one IDE drive), or if you have a bad IDE cable. If you have a SATA 1 drive you don't need to worry about jumpers, if it's a SATA II drive you only need to worry if your motherboard only supports SATA 1. If this is the case, look at this page. But this wouldn't cause the problem you are having.

Just make sure the HDD jumper is set to master and the Optical is set to slave, make sure both drives have the IDE cable in the right way (put the line on the edge of the cable on the side with pin1 and make sure it's on the same side as pin1 on the drives)

Try possibly resetting the bios also and make sure all your connections are tight

Maybe even try some other power connections to your HDD and Optical

My HArdrive is on SATA /....so...no ide for that...just the Optical drive. Im gona try using the other IDE cable i have now...if that doesnt work...il play around with the jumpers....also..question...there are two different power cables i can use for the raptor...one is very thin...and the other is the same as the IDE drive...which should i use?

Ha...i got it going!!!..wow this system is loud...those fans are really running hard...i think im gona have to get another cooling unit

Well....i replaced the IDE ribbon...changed the position of the RAM..which i read wrong...but shouldnt have had to much effect...put a new SATA cable on...and then hit the EZ restart jumper on the board...it went straight to setup
