Arrow/cursor key problem

Anyone help me. I have a problem with the cursor keys in excell. I can not keep a cursor key pressed to move down or across etc. I have to keep pressing and releasing the keys. I have checked the keyboard settings and the repeat rate etc but they are ok. Even while writing this I can not keep the left cursor pressed to go back to the beginning of the sentence. This is rather frustrating now so any help would be good.
Thanks

That sounds like the contact inside the keyboard itself is worn. You could easily have adirt buildup inbetween and uder the keys themselves causing this to be seen. On some occasions you ca nuse a can of compressed air and blast the keyboard while hloding it away from you. It can awkward popping the individual keys up and out in order to do this without damage to the keys themselves. Plastic breaks easy.

thought it may have been the keyboard but I have tried a brand new one toay and its still the same. I wander if reinstalling microsoft office may help as I am out of ideas now!

If it's not a glitch in the MS Office it may be in Windows itself. Can you move the cursor around in NotePad, Word Pad, or any other text editor? If you are only seein this in MS Office a reinstall could easily correct due to a software problem being seen in that one application alone. But if this is seen in other text screens it could be either Window related or a contact in the plugin socket for the keyboard.
