Artifacts/Crashing nowhere near a high temp

This is in regards to GPU overclocking(I assume this is the correct sub-forum for that?):

I have an overclock on my Gigabyte GTX 670 that runs around 46 Celsius. From what I've read, this is nowhere near a high temp. However I am experiencing crashes and green artifacts here and there.

Any ideas why? I thought that only happens at high temps?

Thanks!

It can happen for more reasons that overheating. Most likely you just hit the OC ceiling with out voltage tuning. Turn down the OC 10-20MHz and see if the artifact is still there.

Works fine if I lower the GPU clock as you said. So if I increase voltage I can maintain the higher settings? How much should I increase voltage on each go? Only reason I ask is because I'm not even hitting 50c, and feel like I could get alot more from this card.

My memory clock is about maxed. I think I get artifacts every time I go above what I'm currently at.

^yep can we get your full system specs?

You might be able to hit higher clocks with voltage tuning. Might not. Each chip is different. Generally once you see an artifact it is time to settle with what clock speed you were able to achieve.

What power supply unit do you have? Model and make.

I originally had this PSU:
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W

And then it died early and they sent me an upgrade, unfortunately don't have the documentation for it. I know it was a nicer one, it might have had Gamer in the name. There was some specific part of the name that stuck out to me, but can't recall...

I'll try to remember but I do know it was at least 750W.

Edit: I think it might be this one:

Yep, up the voltage, watch the cooling. If it doesn't fix the artefacts, you have reached your limit on that silicon, or its damaged.

Can you get us the exact model number of the card? All I can find here is that you would need to mod the GPU BIOS for voltage tuning. IMO not worth risking damaging the card since you are already seeing artifacts
