while playing crysis on high i get around 30fps but the longer i play the more white flashes and cracks in the picture i see. after like 30 min it gets pretty bad and it looks like a techno show. anyone know whats up. the hottest my gpu has ever gotten is 71c. Also its a sparkle gts250 1 gb.

Do you monitor your GPU whilst you are playing the game? i.e. play a bit then minimize and check? or do you close the game then check the temps? I find if I do the latter the GPU temp drops dramatically when I close the game.

Is the card overclocked at all?

What's the high setting? Gamer? Or Enthusiast? And how much did you OC your card this time? The same happens when I'm playing on Gamer, in 1980 x 1080 I think. But my GPU never went up to 71, so I'm guessing you REALLY OC'ed it? You have to decrease the clocks untill the game becomes more stable.

the card isnt overclocked at all. and im not sure if it does it on the lower settings. the settings on crysis are low-medium-high-very high and i run it on high. i usually check the temps the second i close the game because if i minimize crysis it wont go back to full screen again. not sure why

well i played crysis for awhile and the temp never goes above 74c on medium and the same for high. its mostly at 72c while playing.

72 isn't dangerously hot at all. Hot yes, but not enough to cause artifacting I wouldn't imagine. Has it always done this? How long have you had the card for? Sadly, it might just be a lemon card, sparkle isn't exactly a world renowned brand.

i think i saw a few small artifacts here and there for a split second but im not sure if i was seeing things or not. also im not sure what the fan is set at ill look now

MY 9800GTX+ (which is basically a GTS250) idles at about 50c and runs about 7(X)c. It's only when it goes above 80c that I start to get problems.

What drivers are you using? maybe try different ones?
