I've just replaced my thermal pad with as5 (only a thin layer and it's not oozing out the sides), and it says it requires 200 hours of use to break in, how should I go about it? Leaving the computer on full time, playing games when I can and leaving it idle the rest of the time? Or Normal turn on, use,play, and shut off when I go to bed and turn back on when I get home from school? Would one way cause damage to any of my components?

Oh ok. Yeah that's what I thought, but I've heard some people just left there comps running 24/7 untill the as5 broke in, and funnily enough, one of my mates did this, and i think on the 6th day, his PSU kicked the bucket, frying his CPU, RAM, MOBO and graphics card. So i'm going to just break it through normal use.
When first applying "any" thermal compound you run the system for about 3 to 4hrs. generally and not much longer since the cpu temps will soar right away. It doesn't bond by simply running it steadily. After the initial warmup period you shutdown everything down for several hours to allow AS5 to start to bond as it cools! On the first few days after you keep a close eye on the temps regardless since it takes upto two weeks to actually firm up.
That's most likely the stock hsf since he mentioned removing the thermal pad to apply AS5 instead. Most 3rd party coolers simply have the flat surface where you apply the right amount of the compound and let it spread evenly. The one main thing to watch on the Core 2s and newer AMD models as well is the intial temps seen. The max temps for all newer models is down from 85-90C to between 60-70C for a max.
