asking a question yes or no for xp pro

Working on a laptop. Dell Latitude D610. Does not have a recovery partition on it. Im trying to take back with a restore now but its not finished.
Had XP Pro 32 bit on it. He does not have a disc either. My question is i have a disc from years ago. XP pro and only says for distribution with new pc only.

Question: Can i use this disc and use his key on the bottom of his laptop?
I tried searching here but did not find my answer.
 
No. That disc won't work. You're going to need to find an unbranded (system builder) disc to install XP and use the key on the laptop.
 
Unbranded would be say an OEM disc you bought from Newegg when they sold XP.

Retail won't work, as you can only use a retail key with retail discs.
