ASP.NET Licensing?

Say, u built a web site using ASP.NET, and decide to pay a monthly fee to a web-hosting service to host your site... Then, do you still have to license your live web site to Microsoft to use the ASP.NET technology?

I would guess that the webhost would be the one paying a licensing fee, unless you installed the ASP.NET server software yourself, then it is your responsibility.

And a side note, PHP is always free.

Rule of power (taken from 48 laws of power): There is no free lunch (PHP/open source/Linux). Learn to pay the full price (Windows/ASP.NET = productivity). Whatever is lowly priced, or free comes at a cost (loss of productivity = loss of time that could be used to make more money = loss of money)...

... If PHP/open source/Linux was so productive, Microsoft, the "evil empire" would have ceased to exist!

... Also, respect money by learning to pay the full price (not buying things only when they are on sale), and you'll become a money magnet. (ie. would you rather spend $5 on a pair of jeans that you only wear once, or $30 on a pair of jeans that you wear almost everyday?)

Anyways, thanx for the response... :D

It's your money :) Spend it as you choose.

I bet you a lot of people would opt for OpenOffice, rather then pay $300 for Microsoft Office, if they knew it existed. Knowledge is power. People that research save money. Simple as that.

Oh, I completely agree with you. I always buy the quality when I use items everyday. And when the same pair of jeans is $55 and $70 at two different locations, where are you going to buy them? Assuming both are equally easy to acquire, you will go for the better value.

Do you really believe that? If so, wow is all I can say.

Most people would opt for the $55 one without thinking. I paid the full price on my watch, instead of waiting for a sale on Boxing Day. I feel much better having paid the full price. Had I gone shopping for it on Boxing Day, I would probably feel that it has cheapened me somewhat... You get what you paid for (the feeling)...

Btw, I tried OpenOffice. It could not even do the simple things I could do flawlessly and effortlessly with Office07. Talk about productivity there!
