Aspire One Touchpad Not Working

Hello everyone!

I usually am able to figure these things out on my own, but on this particular laptop I haven't yet. It is an Acer Aspire One D255. I reformatted it with a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home, and everything is fine except for the Touchpad. It doesn't work! I tried looking under Device Manager, and it shows nothing for 'Mice and Other Pointing Devices' along with it not showing any drivers when I look at the mouse properties in the Control Panel. I have tried installing the drivers, except when I install the Synaptics one, when it reinstalls, I get a message saying the driver needs to be unistalled or something in order to be fixed. Which in the end doesn't fix it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!!!

Go to acer support page and download the driver. Seems there are 3 different drivers depending on the touchpad you have. synaptics, alps, elontech. Try the alps or elontech driver.

On this page: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers, there is a link titled "Need to know the hardware on your system to choose the right drivers?". Click on that link to download a utility that will detect what hardware you have so that you can determine which touchpad driver you need.

Note: The link doesn't take you directly to the correct page. Just enter AOD255 in the "Search by Product Model" box.
