Assistance needed here

ok so here's the deal, am trying to fix this pc.
It had vista ultimate on it (it's not one of those Vista capable pc, no, this one is custom)
I backed up and formatted the drive.
Started the XP setup and i got this



i have never seen this in my life..lol, i mean ever since i've setup Os's i've never seen this.
So i thought i did a bad format so i removed the drive, stick it into mine and did a full format, but still i got that... any ideas ?
 
lol, got me scared for a second there, apparently the drive was going defective, i also got other errors not being able to copy files i thought i was my disc. my bad
