Well more like advice really.

I'm buying a new puter, nothing special, but I only use this old piece of junk for searching web and a few forums, and if it wasn't so small (I wont tell you how as it's embarrassing) I'd stick with this!

At the mo I'm running XP but the new PC comes with Vista basic, will it give me all the same programs as XP or will I need to purchase a word processor, media player etc or are they part of the package.

The mrs said she would like to download music, will we need extra software?

I know I could ask the salesman but I really don't know what I'm talking about and am concerned that when I get my new toy home it wont do what I expect of it!

A link to a site explaining exactly what Vista has would suffice.

Thanks

Oh and hello.:):):):):)

Going with the Home Premium edition of Vista would be the smart move while you will want and need newer Vista compatible programs being a new version of Windows. The Basic version is a stripped down edition and lacks quite a bit.

The first place to look when comparing the different editions of Vista to see what each comes with is seen at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/default.mspx Before making the final decision or simply a last minute change review the comparison Microsoft lists for each.
