the sli has.. sli, but im almost 100% sure it wont be needed. It also has 3gb/s sata vs the 5x's 1.5 gb/s sata, as well as IEEE1394.. whatever that is. Unfortunately, the sli is $30 more. What does 3gb/s vs 1.5 gb/s actually mean speedwise..etc., and what is IEEE1394?

I'll be running a 3200+ 939, west digi caviar sata, value select 184 pin, and a 6800xt. Do I have a better choice motherboard-wise? Same brand, better product, or different brand?

ASUS are a very good make, the SATA 3gbs and 1.5 gbs are gigabits per second, so yer 3 gbs(SATA 2) has faster transfer rates.

IEEE 1394 is an international standard digital interface that can run up to 400 Mbps for stuff like firewire, iLink etc...

And to be honnest i wouldnt bother with the SLi unless your planning to get 2 G-cards soon, i would get the none sli board and save up for a good graphics card.

i just bought a 6800xt which is all i need really. but, do i assume correctly that the 1.5 gb/s and 3 gb/s rates adon't really matter for a run-of-the-mill WoW player? and how important is having the firewire?/can it be added on sometime later?

sata1 and sata2 are virtually the same for most situations. sata2 is definitely more future-proof which is why i made sure my board supported it.
