Asus K55A no video

No video on an Asus I picked up pretty cheap, thought it would be a stupid fixed, could be more. Hopefully nothing like the motherboard being bad. It does have the I5 3210M processor, which is an IGP. My question is, could the graphics be bad on the processor?
 
Could be anything. Does the machine even bootup? Does the hard drive activity light blink? Could be a bad screen, loose video cable, hardware failure. Could be motherboard, not likely the processor unless it overheated.
 
I took the laptop apart and had the motehrboard out. Checked the processor out also just to see how the thermal paste looked, I put Artic Silver on. It turns on, no screen. Power light is on, but the fan does not kick on, also hear the cd drive
 
I tried a different processor, the fan turned on this time but still no video. what could be the problem?
 
I would assume bad motherboard but without proper diagnosis you can't tell. Does it have an external video connection?
