ASUS M2N4 Sli Motherboard Issues

Hi,
I have the above motherboard and it appears to be no hehaving as it should, what I mean by this is that it takes ages for the machine to both fully boot up as well as when installing windows (either vista or xp) it takes a good 5 minutes to come into the install windows screen. the machine has the following specs in full

2 x 1GB RAM Sticks DDR2
Athlon x2 4200+ CPU
320GB Hard Drive
Nvidia 7600GT Graphics Card.

anyone know what it could be and what I can do about it?

THanks

Well, long boot time is usually due to the amount of program that are running at boot-up. You can reduce the amount programs by going to Start>Run and type "msconfig" (w/o the quotes) and go to "Startup" tab at the end. Uncheck any unnecessary programs.

Alternatively, you can dnload CCleaner. It has a built-in start-up program management. Under "Tools" click on "Startup" you can remove any program that you feel not necessary from the list.

::EDIT::

also try using some Spyware Removal tools... it might help

Try defragmenting your harddrive, this will clear up any errors and generally help your HDD out a little.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

Also do what b3rt_d4ni3l said, CCleaner is a very good program, I would run it about 3 times a week. Just to stay on top of things. :)
