hello, i just need put together my computer and i have a p5ad2-e and i have 2 sata hard drives. when i put everything together will my computer recognize the sata hard drives. i've heard of people who say the sata wont work and they have to use an ide, i dont have a spare ide, and i dont want to use one anyway.
So if put everything together and just put the windows cd in the drive on the first boot will it be ok??
also i was told to update the bios as the first thing on my first boot.

thanks for the help

SATA will work fine on it without a PATA HDD. I have a P5GD1 and no PATA HDD and windows installed to the SATA hard drive without a problem. You don't need to update the bios right away (or ever really).

So when i boot up my computer for the first time can i have both my SATA HD's connected or do i just connect one and install windows on it, then connect another one after windows is installed.

also the first time i boot up my comuter do i just quickly stick the windows cd in??? or do i have to change any bios settings first.

you can put both drives in, it doesn't matter. You can take your time putting the CD in, you will probably have to change the boot order, its in the bios (you should be checking that at first boot anyway)

LOL i know :P I was just curious as to whether the hotswap capabilities of SATA were natively supported or OS supported.... i would think native support .... which would mean that, as the Windows installation is "detecting hardware", you could pop the drive in and it [the installer], wouldnt know better

maybe you could but I don't have any hotswapable capable drives so I'm cerntianly not going to test it :P
