i have problem installing window xp prof my comp turn off after the blue screen came up do having no primary ide master be the problem?

i got
700W psu
intel core 2 qaud
geforce gt 9800
500gb sata
 
what mode is your hdd controller set to. you can check this in your bios. if it's set to ahci mode either load the ahci drivers through floppy or turn it off. turning it off will lower your hard disk performance a little.
 
it doesnt matter what hard drive you have. you can set this in the bios of your motherboard. you have press to f1 or delete or a button like that. watch your post screen.
 
Yeah what Vipernitrox said is correct. XP doesn't recognize the HDD controller you are currently using. It should be under the general settings in BIOS.
