Asus P5N-E SLI unable to upgrade bios

hi guys, my current Bios version is 401. i tried to upgrade it to higher version but it kept giving me this message " downgradable rom is not suitable for your current bios version". help!!! i want to upgrade it because i am trying to install 4 GB G.skill rams into my motherboard. it won't accept the 4th stick! the system won't start only give me black screen.

i have
Window vista 64bit ultimate
Quad core q6600
2gb ddr2 800 ram
8800gts 320mb

actually, you most likely need to set the RAM timings manually with that board...i had the same problem
 
First what memory are you running? You'll need to go to their website and get the timings and the voltage setting. After that you'll need to boot the system up with only two gigs installed and set those settings in the bios. After that you should be able to shut down and install the other two gigs of memory. As for your bios upgrade us ethe Asus updater to update your bios . Simply download the correct bios and save it to your desktop , then open the Asus udate tool and tell it to update the bios from a file and choose the location of the file.
 
i use G.Skill rams yeah i will check the timing myself thank you so much.

i tried to update my bios at the bios set up ! it won't work. so i guess there is asus update tool now? i will give that a try

The Asus update tool should be listed in the download section for your mobo on their website . It is easy to use and what model is the memory ( example PC 6400 ddr2 ) and is it dual channel?
