Asus P6T POST problems?

Alright, slightly lengthy problem here:

I've been running a system for a while, no problems. About a week ago, my power supply dies fairly violently (it was apparently drawing extra power and the cord melted into the socket in the supply). I noticed this by the smell and shut things down, and because the computer had been working still I dont -think- it fried things, but I suppose its possible.

I have a new power supply sent, and install it. On starting up, I get a continuous beep (not one long beep but multiple beeps, over and over and over, no apparent end). Nothing on the monitor.

System Basics:
Intel Core i7 920
Asus P6T
3x Corsair 2GB DDR3-1333
HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB PCI-Express x16
680W PSU (seems generic)

Everything I have looked up in terms of references for BIOS beep codes do not list anything for a continuous beep of this kind (I believe the BIOS is AMI, and it lists 1-13 beeps but this beep continues infinitely)

Any help would be appreciated

Test the ram in another system if possible along with all your other parts that can be switched out. Ram first though.

So update if no solution: I traded around some ram and reseated the video card.

I get the same continuous beep, but now I have noticed that I get a message on the monitor actually telling me that I haven't connected the power connector to my video card (im not sure if this message might have been displaying before, its VERY hard to read, kind of red-on-black text, its possible I didn't notice it with glare). Of course, I have connected it.

Does this mean the -replacement- power supply is also defective? :/

You're just gonna have to start changing out parts until you can find the culprit. Your issue could be just about any part you have. However, if the power supply was fried then most likely it did something to the motherboard.
