ASUS ROG Two Graphics Cards

I understand that my laptop has two cards the bad one: Intel HD Graphics 530 and the better one: Nvidia Geforce 960M. Each have 2 GB of video RAM, however, I wanted to know if the 530 is overwhelmed and it switches to the 960M does it use both at the same time or solely one card? (As in will I only ever get 2 GB video RAM or at MAX capacity will I be using all 4 gigs of video RAM?)

It should have switchable graphics. If not, it will use onboard video when not gaming and switch to dedicated when gaming. Don't think you can use both at the same time.
