Hi there Guys,

Just joined this forum and i would like some help deciding on a Mobo to purchase for my new Computer that i am getting built..i have found one that looks fairly decent but im not totally sure..one question i have is do motherboards have a standard number of PCI slots?..i have pasted this link to the mobo i am thinking about

http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...=11143,43850000,4294959021,50626&v=2#infoarea

Thanks in advance for any help! :-)

I think most usually have 2 PCI, 2 PCI Express and 1 PCI Express x16.
I was checking out the list of boards on that site and it appears that the one you suggested seems the best

Cheers, i have been shopping around a bit, most the parts i want are on ebuyer.com or dabs.com.

I am looking into a Seagate Barracuda 400GB Hard drive, nvidia geforce 6 series 512mb graphics, corsair 2 x 1gb memory, and amd athlon 64 4000+ processor..my system right now is very slow because a lot of my hard drive is used up with only 256mb ram so wantin a very nice upgrade!

You should consider going with a 7xxx series geforce, well a 7600 in anyway, 6 series is a little outdated now, thats only if ya have the money of course

Well lets compare the 2 cards:
Memory: 7600Gs: 512MB DDR2 7600GT: 256MB GDDR3
Core clock: 7600GS: 400MHz 7600GT: 560MHz
Memory Clock Speed: 7600GS:800MHz 7600GT:1400MHz
Pipelines: 7600GS:12 7600GT:12

Apart from the memory size, 7600GT wins hands down

for an extra £1 that aint half bad! im not too bothered about costs too much..obviously a wee bit but my main aim is to have a decent machine that can cope and hopefully exceed requirements for todays games..as my machine right now is amd athlon xp 2500+, 256mb ram, 80gb HD, standard video card..so games like rainbow six rogue spear just crash haha! its laame, i bought the machine on eBay a few years ago..but the HD is just clogging up and its a slow machine now.

The ASUS A8N32-SLI is a really nice choice. If you decide to buy a 7600GT, you could save up and get an other one for SLI! ;)

You do know about SLI right?
