Im having trouble with acer. Its really got me at a loss. Seems that its cot a colour problem. All whites are a pale yellow. Seems so stupid, but it has got me in a corner.

I have tried several things to fix this.
1. Rolled to the last restore point. No help.
2. Updated VGA driver. Ditto
3. Tried just turning it off and letting it rest a wile. 1st timesince i got it that it has been off for more than an hour. didnt help.
4. Ran Ubuntu live. still has a problem.
5. Ran W2k. installed, ran fine, problem is there, but not as noticable (more like a clear coat over it than actual background colour). No Ethernet driver though, so had to scrap that.
6. Reinstalled W7HP via the restore disk. issues still there.

So, Im thinking this is a hardware issue. safe to assume???
**vent**
called acer supprt. 3 hours on just to get a guy that barely knows english and doesnt know computers at all. They will repair any hardware issues, but i have to pay shipping to them. **end vent**
so i want to be damn sure that it is hardware failing/failure before I spend $50 to send it to texas for repair.

I would say that it is a hardware problem, more then likely your screen by the sounds of it. Are you running Ubuntu or Windows on there. Hook it up to a external monitor and tell us if it continues to do the same thing, okay? Give that a try.

yeah i had the same issue with a laptop a i was working on for a friend
was a bad ribbon cable to the monitor in that case

Have you tried checking colour settings? Surely that is the first thing you would do with a colour problem? Some portables have various graphic settings accessed via the keyboard to enhance different situations. On top of that are the graphic adapter's settings.

External via HDMI is fine but the external via VGA has the same problem. I know the VGA monitor is fine because I use it daily on my HP and have never had an issue with it.

Calibrate colour only works until a windows alert comes up then its right back to the same yellow crap

did not work.

its anything from windows. Like the thing that comes up saying "do you want the following program froman unknown publisher to make changes to your computer?". Thats shows up from WD hdd monitor, Fraps, Combat Arms, and others.

HDMI external works fine. VGA external is the same.

Go into the monitor menu and set it to factory settings. That should get rid of any changes someone might have made.

it is at factory settings. The only change is on colour calibration in the blue spectrum. With it set about an inch from the end (red and the other at the end) it gets rid on the yellow tint.
