At what core temperature should you begin to worry?

Depends on the processor for top temps, but 80c is way to hot. Need to cool that thing off.

I dont know how good those things really work, if you got good case air flow make sure your CPU fan doesnt have anything restricting its air flow and look for dust in it. Or maybe a good aftermarket CPU heatsink and fan.
JLV, I personally would stay away from that particular item. It doesn't seem to move much air, and what it did probably wouldn't give any significant drop.
Strangle is spot-on with airflow/fans. How is your case set-up? Do you have at least one front fan sucking cool air in and at least one rear fan blowing warm air out? Also, cable management and component (HDD, optical drives, GPU) location will help promote better airflow inside the case. And of course, a nice, perfectly-contacted HSF will go a long way
I'd pull off the HSF and apply new thermal paste before doing anything and waiting a day or two so see how temps look.
Does your case have a CPU-duct on the side panel? If so, you can remove the duct itself and place an 80mm fan on there. By doing that, you change the duct vent from passive (letting the CPU HSF pull cool air in) to active (having the new fan force cool air onto the HSF). It's a bit more noisy, but unless your case is sitting on your desk, hardly noticeable once you get used to it.

Thank you for the nice post. I do have a side panel vent above the CPU, I think I may consider adding a 120 or 80mm fan to the panel and see how things go before messing with the cpu hsf at all. I think im gunna open her up tonight and look around, make sure there in not dust on the heatsink.
