My friend's early 2008 Macbook Pro wouldn't boot. Took HDD out: Hitachi 250 GB Apple HDD firmware 2.5" 2007.
Used enclosure and usb to connect to HP pc running Windows 7. Installs automatically, but does not show up under "Computer." Shows up as ejectable with "eject USB to ATI/ATAPI Bridge."
After using Disk Management, I see the hdd showing up (see attached screenshot), but shows that the drive is completely empty.
Can only access "properties," change to "dynamic" or "new simple volume" (on the unallocated part).
I am not able to initialize the disk. I do not know how to mount the disk or if I need to do so. Please give detailed directions if you have ideas.
My goal: Back up the hdd from the mac to my pc or one of my external hdds.
