Athlon 3500 or 3700?

Ok im purchasing another computer..and im stuck between two computers...these two computers have basically the same specs except one is Amd Athlon 3500+ and the other is Amd Athlon 3700+...the 3700+ is $80 more...so is it worth it? And also are the graphics in these machines decent or would i need to get a new graphics card as well? im not a hard core gamer...just some nba live 2006 every now and then...thanks

I can't tell you for sure without knowing the core of the processors, but it looks like the 3700 is only about $20 more on newegg.com, so I would say if you're looking at just whether or not you're getting a deal, the slower one is better. From what I've heard, HP is a little better than Compaq, but I can't really place any specific reason why. And the integrated video leaves a lot to be desired compared to video cards, so I'd suggest trying to play whatever game you want and if it doesn't run well enough for your tastes, get a pci-e card, but with all this taken into account, I'd probably go with the Compaq personally, I don't see enough of a difference to justify the extra $80
 
well if u were custon building ur pc i wuld say get the 3500+ and then u will be able to overclock to about 3700+ speeds. but since its an hp i dont know if the hp stock cooling will handle it. get the 3700+ its worth the 80 dollars.
 
how much difference is there really between the two? i think i heard the 3700 has a 1mb cache...what does that mean? sorry if its a question thats answered numerous times
 
cache would kind of be like desk space in an office I guess you could say, the bigger the cache, the more space you have to store things you're about to compute, if you could find out what the cores of the processors were, it would help a little, like Clawhammer or San Diego or Venice or something like that
