Ok, I am going to be building my first custom rig and would like to have some input on whether I should choose the Athlon 64 3700+ or the Intel P4 HT 3.0Ghz Prescot. They are both around the same price, $200. However, I know that this has been discussed slightly in the cpu 101 sticky, but I have heard rumor that a 3700+ will perform about the same if not faster as an intel 3.7Ghz. (sorry for asking a n00bish question, but i'm kinda new to this stuff). Also, here's what i am going to be doing with my computer, - quite a bit of multitasking and some gaming. Any input on which i should choose would be great. P.s.- also a slight bit of overclocking. ok, thankx

Do you think you could stretch the budget a tad to fit the cheapest dual core chip such as the 920? It would dramatically improve the performance when multitasking.
