My Athlon Barton is running about 68 to 75 degrees Celsius...Is this right? Its as low as I can get it...Have new heatsink and stock fan and good thermal grease application......Ruined 3 sticks of ddr400 but had issues with old fan and grease I guess-but anyway this is the current temp...Will get other info and put it on here...Don't know a lot about this stuff....What could be making it run so high?

That temperature is high. Is your heatsink fan running? How hot is your heatsink (be cautious in touching it as it could burn you)? What program are you using to monitor your processor temperatures?

You also possibly may not have good contact with the heatsink, thermal grease and processor. You could try to do the following:

1) Remove the heatsink
2) Clean off the old thermal grease (coffee filters work great I hear for doing this)
3) Apply new thermal grease
4) Mount the heatsink properly again

What is the model number of your Athlon processor?

the Barton's ran really hot, and the only connection from CPU to the HS/F was the actual small metal die, my AXP 2600+ Thoroughbred B ran hotter than hell, but that's a bit too high, i'd definitely clean the heatsink/fan if it's dusty (just blow in it alot :D) and then make sure the hs/f is connected right , and that the thermal paste is just a small dot on the die of the cpu.
