Athlon FX 60

I just bought this cpu to replace my athlon 64. I installed the cpu correctly in the socket and the heatsink is seated with side clips clipped down but the huge lever on the heatsink won't go all the way down. Im scared that i might damage the cpu if i apply too much presure so i want to make sure what im doing is right. Do i really have to push hard on the lever?

Thanks

The lever should have some tension as a rule. But never force anything down too hard. Once you have the hsf I assume is stock seated properly you will feel a degree of tension to some degree but not much. Those are feather light when pushed down and locked inplace without any struggle.

Well the thing is that the lever doesn't have a clip. It's just a lever. It goes about half way but then it gets really hard to push.

See the clip on the lever... My heatsink doesn't have that

I,m not quite understanding this at first you said this!

Then you said

Well the thing is that the lever doesn't have a clip. It's just a lever.

I thinkest someone made um big mistake by installing hsf before lowering lever after cpu inserted in cpu socket?  aw crap! I have to take off heat sink to lower to close zero insertion socket to secure cpu? That's yje only thing that comes to mind right away with one quick look to see hsf on and lever for cpu socket up and unable to lower down inplace.
