im trying to put my Athlon 2500+ mobile barton in and it wont let me run the FSB past 100 (200MHz BUS) with a clock of 600MHz and a locked multiplier at 6x, the processor im useing im almost absolutly sure its unlocked, its should be running at 2GHz at 400MHz BUS, is there something i have to download to support mobiles?

The AMD AthlonXP Mobile 2500 [axmh2500fqq4c) was a 133FSB chip and doesnt have a locked multiplier AFAIK .. furthermore it is a 133x14 chip for 1.88Ghz

It's a barton core as per:

Rather, specifically, it is a mobile barotn

doubtful considering mobile procs utilize less voltage and thus generate less heat to start with :)

my ThinkPad T42 is always really hot so I would never even consider OCing it, but whatever floats your boats, and you couldn't have picked a better chip tbh, I was always a big fan of the 2500+s

We dont now whether he is trying to run this in a laptop or desktop atm .. Ku-sama? :)

desktop... cause i heard they overclock better then any other XP processors... but i think my mobo sucks and wont overclock it, also i think i read somewhere that with DDR400 it will run the processor at 400MHz BUS and like 2GHz

that is so weird, I have never seen a desktop system with a mobile proc, so I am just going to back strait out of this, since I have no knowledge of this setup at all.

Ah i guessed right :) They tend to OC better than desktop models however you have to overcome a 33MHz core deficiet to become on-par with the desktop chips to start with :)

The beauty (in the opinions of some) of K7 OCing is that the memory can be clocked asynchronously with the core ... so you can run 200MHz memory (not 400MHz memory) and have yer core running in 166MHz or whatnot :) For the most part the jump from 166 to 200 isnt that big for late series K7s :)

Am i correcy in recalling a thread about you switching an XP2900 for a XM-M 2500? (i would personally switch back) but to answer your question, the current clocking scheme definitely accounts for the lack of performance

i already swapped back though... as you might know, im having problems getting the processor back in properly :P
