athlon64 CPU won't change speed

Hello everyone,

i recieved an "old" notebook from a friend cause he doesn't need it anymore.

Its a Siemens Amilo A1667G with an Athlon64 4000+ cpu.

But somehow the processor speed is always stuck on 800mhz instead of 2400mhz.

there is this "turbo" button which is supposed to put the cpu at its full performance, but i've never seen the cpu pass 800mhz.

Can anyone explain this or got an idea how to fix it ? its really bugging me because you really notice its only 800mhz power :S

There is software running that is slowing it down to that speed to keep the heat down. It's called AMD Cool and Quiet. You should have a setting for it in the bios.

I checked it 4 times there is no cool and quiet option in the bios.

The only thing apparently controlling the cpu speed is that turbo button (according to the manual).

I would like to set the cpu speed to its 2400mhz so it stays constant.
Is there anyway to do so ? i tried it with ClockGen, without success. I wasn't able to change anything.

When you are in the bios, does it list the full speed of the processor? The software could be loading at windows startup that controls the speed as well.

In the bios i have barely any information.

It only shows me which model of cpu it is, no display of speed or what so ever.

The speed controller can't be in windows, as i formated the computer and put a fresh install of xp on it.
